Texas Memories

I feel like I have been out of the blogging world forever, when it really has only been a couple of weeks. I spent last week in San Antonio Texas. It is kind of like a second home to me because we went there often when I was a kid. My dad is from Texas and all of his side of the family still lives there. My dad's only sister, my aunt Patsy passed away and we went down for the funeral. It was a bitter sweet trip. I love my cousins Kathy & Troop and their families and my Uncle Jimmie and it was so good to see them. There was definately something missing with my aunt gone. She was such a great lady who loved all of her family. My prayers are still with all of you. What a great blessing it is to have the faith that we will see her again. I look forward to seeing all of you this summer (yes even you Greg)

It was the first time since I have been married ( and that is a long time) that I have been with my parents and my siblings alone for a week (without kids and spouses). It felt like we were kids again, minus the teasing (but that is only because Bryce wasn't there and yes Bryce we did miss you.) The only thing I don't like about Texas is the humidity and what it does to my hair (and it truly was a nightmare but I did come home with an awesome cowboy hat and not the pink one below). We were able to spend some time on the Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio. I have always loved that place.

My cute parents enjoying their walk.

We also found a new favorite the Alamo Cafe. Not only does the atmosphere remind you of the alamo the food was awesome.

We also visited with family and stayed up late chatting in the hotel room. Mom always came over to the "girls room" what can we say we are way more exciting then dad and Troy. JK :) Thanks Ryan for being so great and taking care of everything so I could go. You are the best and I truly didn't have to worry about anything at home because I knew you would have it all under control. Also thanks to the rest of you who helped with my kids or fed my family. It is so great to be surrounded by such great family and friends. I love you all!!!!

that really was a good trip, even though I missed Aunt Patsy. I'm glad that we were all able to go.

I'm so sorry about your aunt, Melanie. It's so great that you have such a fun family though... You guys always seem to be doing something together. You're lucky. :o) I've never been to Texas. Jason used to live there a long time ago...and I'd like to visit sometime. I'm glad you were able to have a good trip. BTW, Matthew's uniform is perfect for him. He tried to call you to tell you, but couldn't get you....and he's just not a kid who will talk on the voice mail very often. :o) THANK YOU
